In January of 2020, I posted in a local therapist Facebook group an invite to meet other Latinx therapists. At that point in life, I didn’t know many people in private practice, let alone anyone who was Latinx. To my great surprise, people showed! We gathered at Fair Trade Cafe, a Latina owned local coffeeshop and met there again the following month.

When the pandemic hit, I moved the networking event from in-person in Phoenix, to virtual. Since then, it has had a global reach and I have had the honor of meeting and connecting with over 100 Latinx colleagues.

The group continues to meet virtually each month, with occasional in-person events in Phoenix and now also in Long Beach, CA.

At the end of 2023, I decided to turn this beautiful networking group into a professional association — Empezando Contigo: Association for Latine Therapists. I am still in the process of setting up this group so stay tuned for more information to come!

The group is open to Latine mental health professionals who are at any point in their career, as well as students. It is a safe space  for Latine therapists to create meaningful connections, empower one another, decolonize the mental health field, and to uplift the Latine community.

You can find the latest information about upcoming events on our Facebook page.
